So, it worked out, and the College of Business was invited to a special reception with Warren Buffett at his new RC Willey store in Rocklin. My boss was awesome enough to set aside a ticket for me, so I got to rub shoulders with some of Sacramento’s big wigs at lunch at PF Chang’s in Roseville–Chris Cady (Pulte Homes), Matt Cologna (Grubb & Ellis), Earl King (Fidelity Investments), Monoo Prasad (eBay), Tim Ray (AT&T), Randy Sater (Teichert), and many of my great co-workers from Sac State–and then we went to the new store in Rocklin and each got to briefly meet, speak to, and get a photo with Warren Buffet! He is very friendly and approachable, for a multi-billionaire! I think I have a new idol!
The more I learn about him and read his opinions/advice, the cooler I keep thinking he is. Thanks go out to my supervisor Thomas for hooking me up with the chance to meet this guy!
It’s just unfortunate that the talk he wanted to give at Sac State didn’t happen. I would have loved to get more chance to speak with him and ask him more about his recent decision to give much of his wealth in charitable donations, about his feelings on the strength or weakness of the US dollar, and about what investment, asset protection, and retirement planning advice he has for college students and new graduates (he originally wanted to host a Q&A session with Sac State students).
Join my revolution!
