About Thrilling Heroics

Cody McKibbenI’m Cody McKibben. I started Thrilling Heroics in 2006 to encourage young professionals and entrepreneurs to pursue an unorthodox, exciting lifestyle and career, strive for excellence, and make a positive difference in the world! I’m passionate about helping people break free from the conventional template lifestyle—liberating themselves from traditional mindsets about work, creating their own entrepreneurial ventures, living remarkable lives, and doing good for others.

Optimize your Life, Rock your Career, and Make the World your Playground!

Follow along with my (mis)adventures and watch as I attempt to sidestep the traditional corporate world, concentrate on personal growth, travel around the world, and create an ideal lifestyle! We’ll talk about personal development, vagabond travel, productivity, personal finance, web entrepreneurship, lifestyle design and more.

Cody is quickly becoming one of my favorite bloggers. Advocating complete lifestyle design reminiscent of Tim Ferris and his 4-Hour Work Week, Cody’s witty voice mixed with outstanding tips and links for transforming your life and business are not to be missed. A true pioneer who’s generosity to his readers is blatantly clear.

Why Listen to Me?

If you’re wondering why the hell you should bother to listen to anything I have to say, here are a few accomplishments I’ve made in my short time on this planet so far:

  • I’ve been blogging professionally since June 2006, and in that time I’ve built relationships and worked with trusted authors including Rajesh Setty, Pamela Slim, Kare Anderson, Ramit Sethi, Penelope Trunk and tons of other cool people.
  • I’ve been self-employed since September 2007, now running my web development business remotely from anywhere in the world, bootstrapped & location-independent since November 2008.
  • Brooke Ferguson and I teach other remarkable individuals and organizations to establish their own strong brands online and expand to a global audience.
  • I’ve leveraged my online presence to build client relationships across the U.S., Canada, Europe, Australia & South America.
  • I build awesome web presence for my clients with beautiful, simple, clean-coded WordPress blogs.
  • I’ve been interviewed about my business for ABCNews.com, BlogTalkRadio, and Mine Your Resources.

  • In it’s first 2 years, this blog had been recognized by Silicon Valley startup guru Guy Kawasaki, social media expert Chris Brogan, the Brazen Careerist Gen-Y blog network, the Washington Post and many more.
  • I’ve shaken hands with Warren Buffett. I’ve shaken hands with people who’ve lost everything in natural disasters. Everything.
  • I’ve driven Ferraris. I’ve jumped out of a plane at 13,000 feet. I’ve hung my face over the edge of Half Dome (and I have a fear of heights).
  • I’ve been able to work from the beach for 3 weeks at a time, enjoying the sunshine and snorkeling in Krabi, Thailand, heaven on earth!
  • I’ve seen ancient wonders of the world. I’ve witnessed the mass graves of millions of victims of genocide.
  • I’ve taught Business English at Mahidol University College of Management.
  • I’ve collaborated on large-scale charity dinners and mixer events with Dwight Turner. I help organize regular Bangkok Tweetups that attract interesting people and tech nerds like myself from all walks of life.
  • I founded a Mastermind group for college students and young professionals in Sacramento, California called Career MasterMinds. I was a founding member of the Toastmasters Leadership Club at my alma mater, Sacramento State University.
  • I studied philosophy, literature and the arts and earned my Bachelor’s degree in Humanities, Religious Studies & History.
  • I’ve traveled to over 18 countries and made friends around the globe!
