I was on a live mentorship call with several Digital Nomad Academy students last week and the subject of niche finding came up. Our course starts with extensive coursework that delves into your behaviors, your priorities and mindset, and your resource allocation with your time and money, before going into identifying niches and ideal customers, and business development.
But of course, I said, for people who are concerned about identifying a niche now…
David Walsh and Derek Johanson are *the* two guys you need to listen to.
Over the past few months, you may have been hearing quite a lot of rumbling about the new course David and Derek have been developing, called M6 Method.
Anyone who’s seeking to match (or supplement) their existing income from a job with online passive income is always worried about finding their niche.
One major problem is, most people are looking for the “magic bullet”—the one online niche that’s gonna be their gravy train to online riches! And another huge problem is that many courses and products online are promising these shortcuts to online riches!
Three short months to a complete lifestyle makeover! Earn your first cool million by next Tuesday!
But you and I both know these shortcuts simply don’t exist. We didn’t make any absurd promises like these in our marketing for DNA, and Derek and David don’t make any promises they can’t keep either.
As David Walsh says, the closest thing to a “magic bullet” in business is proven systems. I’ve known David for quite a while now, since his early days with his great site MuseLife. He attracted my attention in a major way with his first major ebook Source Control, in which he broke down how to implement systems in your business.
Then Derek released a great product for guys—the 007 Lifestyle, which combined tons of great guidance for earning an income online, travel, improving your success with women, and fitness. It was so baller that he sold the rights! Along with a host of other slick, premium niche products they’ve created, David and Derek bring several solid years of experience to the table now, and M6 is the evolution of everything they’ve learned.
These guys teamed up to create their own online publishing company, Dangerous Publishing, and now what they’re basically doing is systematizing everything you need in order to start earning passive income with your own online information product empire!

Shooting the Shit with the Bosses of Digital Product Development
I spent several months hanging out in Bangkok with David and Derek while they were working diligently developing this framework, and they’re finally just starting to debut their M6 Method more publicly.
It’s been ages since we were dodging bullets in Bangkok and civil protests tore us apart though, so I wanted to track them down to discuss finding a niche and creating info products. Well, here is that conversation. The guys are now back at their Dangerous headquarters in Philadelphia, and I’m here visiting home in California, and the video below is literally just a shoot-the-breeze conversation between the three of us about business. But there’s a LOT of juicy tidbits in here.
If you’re an ambitious young upstart, motivated to start your own passive online business, then I guarantee you’ll find these 47 minutes very interesting. A few things mentioned in the video interview:
- Derek & David’s travels (enabled by their passive online income)
- how they’re changing the publishing industry
- what they’ve learned in two years creating great information products
- how David built himself out of a full-time job (the importance of systems)
- one of the great M6 Method success stories: The Hollywood Physique
- how to find a product niche & how to keep an eye open for opportunities
- why you should test your product before you create it
What the Hell Is M6 Method Anyways??
M6 Method is a thorough framework and training course for developing and launching product-based online businesses.
David is a hardcore perfectionist with the products he releases—in the best way, but to the detriment of his projected timelines, and to Derek’s stress level! But it’s evident from the second you land on any of his websites—anything you get from him just oozes with quality craftsmanship. M6 Method is no different, it is beautifully designed and methodically organized.
On the inside, what you’ll find is a collection of processes and resources that facilitate the rapid creation of digital products.
I’ve been a member of M6 for several months now, and I can tell you that it’s the most definitive, step-by-step system for building your own information product empire!
If you want to start creating your own digital products and building passive revenue streams, the M6 course shows you how to implement what works, so all you have to do is take action. It’s a lot easier to pour your energy and hard work into a new project when you’re using a system you know will work.
David and Derek are truly two of the smartest guys I know when it comes to turning knowledge into marketable products, and turning digital products into low-maintenance, passive income streams. These guys are the real deal. They’re truly hard-working guys who deliver a TON of value, and they’ve created something special with M6. Even if you don’t plan on purchasing anything, if you’re someone who’s interested in this kind of stuff, I highly recommend you check out their free video series on niche finding, product creation, and systems, and when you sign up for their list, they’ll give you their free niche-identification workbook too!

I would say finding a niche isnt as hard as making it profitable. There are so many niches within niches that the options at limitless. The problem though is making it profitable. This requires testing and tweeting to see what works and what does. These guys look like they know there stuff.
Dude, that was seriously good content!
Love the bit about how you’re just an employee without systems; really motivated me to start thinking in those terms.
Hey Tom, I’m really glad you enjoyed this man! It’s a solid interview, and good knowledge about systems.
